The new 129,000 square foot, 450 bed jail located in Jackson County is an example of precast concrete wall/roof construction and prefab steel cells, creating a secure and cost effective design solution. Minimizing operational costs for the County, the design team created clear sight lines and combined staff positions in this efficient and orderly jail plan. The jail housing pods combine direct and indirect supervision of inmates, while the jail support space features a versatile intake and release area, medical/screening wing, first appearance hearing room and state of the art kitchen and laundry facilities. The sheriff's administration wing includes space for criminal investigations, uniform patrol, evidence storage, and a multi-purpose training room. The facility is designed to be expanded easily in the future for double the imate population. |
